Design of a Las Vegas Landmark

The Park is an extraordinary public open space in Las Vegas located between the famous New York-New York and Monte Carlo hotels. The area was completely renovated in 2015 and transformed into a modern park and recreational space. The project was officially opened in May 2016.

High-quality mosaic pavers were laid over an area of approximately 6,000 m² and grouted with the ROMEX® paving joint mortar ROMPOX® - D2000. This created a durable and visually appealing surface that meets the special requirements of a heavily trafficked location on the Las Vegas Strip.

Requirements and Challenges

The location directly on the Las Vegas Strip placed high demands on the paving surface. As a link between two large hotel complexes and a publicly accessible park area, The Park is heavily frequented daily—by hotel guests as well as visitors, tourists, and event attendees.

In addition to a high-quality design, durability, resilience, and ease of maintenance were particularly crucial. The jointing solution had to reliably withstand the intense foot traffic while ensuring the mosaic paving area maintained a well-kept appearance over the long term. At the same time, a solution was needed that had already proven itself under comparable conditions.

ROMEX® Solution

ROMPOX® - D2000 was used for grouting the mosaic paving areas. The two-component paving grout was selected because it had already proven itself successfully since 2014 in front of the hotels on the Las Vegas Strip.

ROMPOX® - D2000 is specifically designed for heavily trafficked paving areas and is particularly suitable for public spaces with high foot traffic. The durable jointing reduces maintenance requirements, prevents the washing out of loose jointing material, and contributes to the long-term stability of the paving surface. This allowed the high-quality design of the newly created park to be combined with a technically reliable jointing solution.
